Just a note...
Hey guys
Just a short note to tell you (and even myself) that I haven't forgotten about the challenge! It seems deciding to blog from an iPad was a bit if a mistake considering I don't even know how to use this thing! Who knew i wasnt as tech savvy as i thought.
I am in the middle of moving but I had already laid out all the necessary posts for the next few days till I'm on my feet again but when I tried to actually post them from this thing it didn't quite work out..... :( boo!
Any way forget the iPad I will be back online ASAP and back to my challenge!
In the meantime have a great week!

Blogger Challenge: Day 14
Day 14: A Picture of You Last Year--- How Have You Changed?
Considering last year was only just 29 days ago, this challenge is a bit tricky. But here is a photo that was taken of me early last year, I think it must have been in August or something.
Considering last year was only just 29 days ago, this challenge is a bit tricky. But here is a photo that was taken of me early last year, I think it must have been in August or something.
Unfortunately it is black and white, but this is one of my favourite photos, it reminds me of a day I kind of stepped out of my comfort zone. I was ambushed into a photoshoot by one of my friends for this clothing store called Krush Culture, and even though I was reluctant to do it, I had a lot of fun at the end of the day.
They have such amazing clothes, but not clothes that you would normally find me wearing. This is why I like the picture, because I stripped myself off normal and tried extraordinary, and it worked. (",)
What has changed about me since?
Hmmmm, this is so hard, because I feel the same, and I look the same but I know I have changed.
One thing I have difficulty with is pinpointing things about myself {whether good or bad} but talking about myself just doesn't come easy. Which is one of the reasons I chose to do this challenge, it is all about me and it is something I really need to learn.
But for now, one thing I am certain of, is I don't think the same. A lot has happened in my life since last year that has caused me to look at certain situations differently. Not all bad though, some situations have really changed me for the better. :) but I just don't see life the same way anymore. As my sister would say "It's not that serious"
Don't get me wrong, life is the most serious thing I have ever come across. But we have a habit of making it even more so than it actually is. Life is good, and if we see it for the goodness that it is, all this petty stuff won't even matter much anymore. We will see the petty for the petty and just move on.
And that is where I am at.

Blogger Challenge: Day 13
Day 13: Goals
Lu3Lu
I am such a goal setter but not so much of a goal achiever. I always find myslef changing my mind about something, or shifting up my target a little bit. It is really not a good trait that I have, but all is well that ends well right?
Because at the end of the day I get whatever it is done.
I really do.
This year I have set myself few short and long term goals that I am going to work well with.
Short term goals
1. Decorate my new apartment within a week of moving in
2. Take up a yoga class ASAP
3. Take up a dance class ASAP
4. Lose 5 - 7Kgs
5. Enhance my shoe and dress collection. Mostly shoes though.
Long term goals
1. Buy a new car
2. Ace my honours year
3. Learn to speak another language {preferably French... but anything will do}
4. Read 10 novels.... hmmmm, maybe join a book club.
5. Get an internship
6. Start making my own money. Preferably by throwing my own events, but we will see.
I know for sure I am going to add more to this list, but for now here are a few of my goals for this year. Will be keeping you posted. (",)

Blogger challenge: Day 12
Day 12: Something you don't leave the house without
Two things:
For starters, I never go anywhere without my phone unless it's the exam room or the shower. The bathroom is debatable, but other than that my phone goes everywhere I go.
So if ever I am out the house and I am without my phone, something is wrong.
I can also never leave the house without money. It just doesn't make sense.
You never really know what could happen out there, who you will need to bribe and what have you.
I'm kidding!
But really, you can find yourself in a fix if you are ever short for money.

Blogger Challenge: Day 10
Day 10: Something You Are Afraid Of
Whoooooo this list could go on forever. I'm literally a chicken reincarnated.
But if we are being serious.... Im REALLY afriad of the dark.....
Seriously, Lord knows how many times I have slept with the light on because I am afraid of how dark it is. These are serious 5 year old problems but it is a problem I am apparently stuck with. It's not the boogie man, or Freddy Kruger, or Micheal Meyers that bother me much, it is the fact that these things come alive at night when it is pitch black. How am I supposed to live with that?
I'm also REALLY afriad of hieghts.....
I don't know how my proposal on top of the empire state buliding is going to happen now.
I literally can't walk up a flight of stairs or drive on mountains without thinking I'm going to die.
Oh well, that's okay because you know what they say about being afraid.....
"There is nothing wrong with being afraid... but there is nothing more wrong than allowing that to be your master"
Wait what?

Day 9: A Favourite Picture of Your Best Friend
Lu3Lu
xx
I have a handful of friends, I love them all and I am glad they are in my life.
But very few are special friends, each of them the best in their own special way. (",)
I am so thankful for them because they make me believe in real friendship. I have made friends and lost them all in the blink of an eye, and those that were once important to me arent as much anymore. Things happen, it is life. I am so okay with that now more than ever. I am happy with the people that are in my life, and will be in excellent shape if any decide to leave.
But my special friends, these guys have always been there, through weather change, long silences, distance, and misunderstandigs.
They always stay.
Let me introduce you to them shall I?

Nasreen Hassanali! My bear! Miss her! :( amazing human being! |
Velma! Where would I be without her! She makes my life! |
Nadia! This tiny person is awesome. Been friends for ages! |
PJ! Only known him for a short time, but boy has my life changed since! :) |
But really at the end of it all, my best friend is truly the one I share most of my life with, the love of my life and funniest guy I know

Blogger Challenge Day 8
Day 8: A Place You Have Travelled To
Today's challenge is quite difficult for me, mainly because I wish I did more travelling than I actually do. I always say to myself when 'I grow up' I want to have a job that allows me to travel. even though I hear it's no fun having to go up and down all the time, I think travelling to the most amazing places is something that I can get used.
Any way the most memorable place I have been to in my inexperience of travelling is by far Dubai. It is such a beautiful place and I always have so much fun when I visit.
Shopping is great, you can get such amazing things at such cheap prices. The people are also pretty good too, it's one of those places u can get lost in {which happened once} and totally manage to find your way.
The buildings are huge, the weather is so so, and the food, oh wow, the food. It's just so much fun, you almost always want to extend your stay.
Now I want to go back. Take me there somebody?

Blogger Challenge: Day 7
Day 7: Favourite Movies
1. TWILIGHT SERIES
I am such a movie fanatic. The Mr can confirm this with the many times I have dragged him to the cinema. I don't know what it is, but feel so at peace when I can curl up with a hot cup of something, and watch a movie. For that hour 30 minutes I am in someone elses world and I can do a bit of escaping from this real one.
At the risk of giving you an A-Z of my favourtie movies (although that really would have been such a good idea) I have picked five that stand out to me.
1. TWILIGHT SERIES
I have to admit that when it first came out I wasn't in the slightest bit interested. I am not a fan of Dracula and when I heard this was a vampire movie, I already had red flags up. I just didn't get it, until one day when I was so bored and had nothing else to watch, I thought I would give it a try. The rest was history. Lucky for me when I watched it, the second one was already out so I had a great time catching up. I just love these movies.
My absolute favorite of the series has to be 'Breaking Dawn' I literally left that movie house speechless. I can't wait until November 16th 2012 for the next installment.
2. THE LION KING
This has got to be by far the best animated film Disney has made. I can still watch it today no problem and enjoy myself. When Mufasa dies is still just so emotional for me, and I just love being able to sing along with all the songs. And is it just me, or is Simba quite the cutie? he is freaking HOT!
3. DEVIL WEARS PRADA
My friends and I kind of make this the theme movie for our lives. No real reason why. But in the past few months we have all sort of worked in places we didn't really like, and felt like we had bosses from hell. So each time we had something to complain about we would all tell each other 'Think Devil Wears Prada' and miraculously we would be okay again. It is just one of those movies. Love it. And I just love Meryl Streep. She is awesome!
4. THE PARENT TRAP
This movie has got to be my ultimate favourite. It is something I can watch over and over again and not get bored. Some people don't get it. They are like, MOVE ON! I don't even know how to exaplain how much I love it. Lindsay Lohan at her best.
5. SOUND OF MUSIC
This must have been the first 'real' movie I watched when I was a kid. It's unbelieveable how young I was when I first watched it. But it was honestly the best movie ever. Julie Andrews is an amazing actress and I have loved her since.

Blogger Challenge: Day 6
Day 6: A Picture of Something That Makes You Happy
Lu3Lu
I was sent this a couple of weeks ago by one of my friends, and it honestly made me happy. There are a lot of things that make me smile, but it is truly the small meaningful things that make me happy. And I always say this, it is the simple things in life with me. I know it's just a small random picture, but here is the picture of something that made me happy. Feel free to pass it on to any ofyour friends to make them smile. (",)
Also,
I just had to share this with you guys!
I know this video has been circulating the internet for quite awhile now, but it gets me everytime. These girls are SO cute! My absolute favourite though is the girl on the left. Rosie. Aaaaaaw! She just makes this video that much more entertaining for me.
I am a happy puppy when I watch these two cuties.
What makes you a happy puppy?

Blogger Challenge: Day 5
Day 5: A Song To Match Your Mood
I am honestly feeling a bit too many things right now.
Nothing all too bad, but I have just had a hectic couple of days. I have recently moved to a new city, started apartment hunting, enrolling in a new school, planning to furnish my apartment, and a whole lot more concerning the new move.
Moving to a new place is never easy I suppose, I havent really had practice in this art because I always seem to stay in one place most of the time. But even though I know it will be a while till I fully settle down, the thought of the whole thing overwhelms me.
And I guess if I had to sum up all I am feeling right this moment would be just that, overwhelmed.
*sigh* All I know is the best advice I can give myself right now, is to relax right?
I probably should go right ahead and take Mikas advice. He said it best.

Blogger Chanllenge: Day 4
Day 4: Your Parents
There is a lot I would like to say about my parents, but I think most of it needs to be said to them. First of all, maybe I should start by saying thank you....
Usually I would insert pic here, but my parents don't seem to have the time {most of the time} to stop and take pictures. But......
There is a lot I would like to say about my parents, but I think most of it needs to be said to them. First of all, maybe I should start by saying thank you....
Dear Mum and Dad
I have known you guys for 23 years now, and I can safely say that you guys are by far the best parents a girl like me can ask for.
If God had to come today and say 'Hey, because I love you so much, I am giving you the chance to change anything you want about your parents. What will it be?' I would smile and reply, 'No thanks God, you did well the first time around, and because you love me so much you gave me the parents that I needed.'
I know that we argue, and fight and disagree on so many things, but at the end of the day I know you love me.
I would like to thank you for all this and more, I am who I am today because of what you have done for me, and who you have been for me.
I may not say much at times, but just know that I love you more than life itself. And I owe you guys my life..... Literallly.
Love,
Your Daughter
Usually I would insert pic here, but my parents don't seem to have the time {most of the time} to stop and take pictures. But......
That's what matters.

Blogger Challenge: Day 3
*side bar* I missed my 3rd post. :( I know. I unfortunately could not log in to blogger yesterday for some unknown reason. I tried all day, but it kept brining up some error. But I am up and running again now, and I bring you my challenge for day 3.
Day 3: Your First Love
Day 3: Your First Love
This is definitely a tie between Leonardo Di Caprio and Macaulay Culkin.
Yum.
These two boys kind of did it for me when I was younger.
Macaulay was so bad ass in the Home Alone movies, who wouldn't die? And Leonardo and that beach body of his? Wow.
As I have grown up however, these two have started losing their sex appeal to me. One is fat and the other looks like a druggie. No, thanks.
I am good with the real deal.

Blogger Challenge Day 2
Day 2: Meaning Behing Your Blog Name
Lu3Lu
xx
It actually took me forever to come up with a name, and sometimes I feel I still haven't got it quite right. I don't know, maybe it's the indecisive nature in me that just won't stick with one thing. But I have had this name for almost two years now so I am sure it's doing something right.
Let me start from the beginning. Lu3Lu is my name, well, without the 3 in it. In actual fact it is just Lulu.
But quite a while ago, I watched the movie 'Bandslam' and that movie changed my life, literally. Ever since then I thought that having a number in your name made you quite different, and dare I say 'cool' and you know how everyone wants to be the captain of the cool kids, So like Sa5m the five is silent I decided to become Lu3Lu the three is silent and I have been Lu3Lu ever since.
One thing I didn't want to do, is make this blog my diary. I didn't want to come on here and dear diary the h*ll out of this thing because one, that would surely be boring, and two there is so much to me, and this world than the things that we complain about everyday. So, obviously that scratched out naming my blog Lu3Lus Thoughts, or Lu3Lu Thinks (which were really strong contenders.... at the time) but I realised there are so many things that cross my mind, and so many people and things that cross my path that if I was to put it all down on virtual paper I could really have something good going. I started to think of a zebra crossing, and I thought hey, why not just change zebra to Lu3Lu and make it Lu3Lu's Crossing.
I had to be vain and kind of stick my name in there somewhere because I wanted this blog to symbolise me, and my views, and my thoughts.
So I guess at the end of the day, it came together pretty well...
I Think.

Blogger Chllenge: Day 1
Day 1: Introduce, recent picture of yourself, 15 interesting facts
In my head I always imagine myself as one of those people who always walk around with a camera taking pictures of everything and everyone, or maybe even one of those girls that always takes pictures of themselves (a little) but in reality I hardly take pictures unless I am with people that are like the above. But this is as recent as it gets....
Cheers! |
I am also not very good at talking about myself. When people ask, 'tell me about yourself' I am usually stuck for words. That, or I simply say... 'well ask me what you want to know' it is so much easier that way. Obviously I would have to pull something out of a hat if I was asked this at a job interview, I can't really say 'ask me what you want to know' even though they will go ahead and do just that anyway.
Oh, I guess I also digress alot. Here I am supposed to be telling you about myself, and I am chatting job interviews.. go figures. Any way, if I HAD to say something about myself it would be in the words of that guy who sang the one tree hill theme song 'I don't wanna be anything other than what i've been trying to be lately, all I have to do is think of me and I have peace of mind'
The good thing is I can make lists, lots and lots of them. So here are 15 interesting (I hope) facts about me.
1. I like to think I speak with an accent. So when somebody tells me I sound just like everybody else, it kind of sucks.
2. I used to think I would be the next Penny Heynes. I was in love with the water and being inside it, I competed when I was A LOT younger but then I got embarrassed about being in a costume around all these high school boys. You see what happens when you do things for guys?
3. When I grow up, I want to be famous, I want to be a star, I want to be in movies. When I grow up, I want to see the world, drive nice cars, I want to have groupies. Be on TV, people know me, be on magazines. (only because I am listening to the song right now)
4. I don't laugh. I feel like I do, but according to everyone around me, I don't. I am either always saying, 'That's so funny' or 'That's hilarious' but I never actually just laugh.
5. I am bad at math. This is not interesting, this is just shameful. Today I spent almost an hour trying to count money that wasn't even a lot.
6. I am capable of stealing your baby, or puppy.
7. I am afraid of heights. This is also not interesting, it is a serious problem I need to work on. Any ideas?
8. I want to interview Alexa Prisco from Jeresylicious, or should I say, Glam Fairy. Why you ask? Well, why not?
9. I have a list of names to call my children when they finally arrive into this world. Praying for a boy first.
10. I honestly believed supercalafragelistcexpealidoscious was a real word. Shock horror when I open the dictionary and it wasn't there. Cried for months.
11. At least I know Santa Clause is real.
12. I want a tiger to walk down the ailse with me on my wedding day. Preferably a white tiger, but I am not picky.
13. I never finish a tube of lip gloss. It withour fail manages to get lost, or stolen. I believe it is the latter.
14. My favourite movie to this day will always be The Parent Trap.
15. I had an incredible amount of fun with todays blogger challenge. I still hope many of you will join. :)

All We Need...
The past two days have really been up and down for me.
I've been stressed out, I have been nervous, I have been happy, I have been upset, I have been encouraged and discouraged, I have been confused, I have been hurt, I have been calm and all this just in 48 hours.
Needless to say, this is life.
We all have our ways of dealing with it, but one thing is for sure we all need a little inspiration.
One of my friends sent this to me in an email yesterday and I have been thinking about it ever since. Not only did it inspire me, but
It is so true how human beings focus so much on the things that make them sad, but don't spend enough time thinking about the things that make them happy. If we can't laugh at the same joke twice, we definitely shouldn't cry about the same things over and over again.
All these moments are fleeting, let's choose wisely which ones we hold on to, and which ones we let go of.
If a plane doesn't allow excess baggage why would you allow it in your life?
And remember excess baggage comes at a cost.
{here}
Right?

SOMETIMES I want to try out different fashion statements
ALWAYS I end up playing safe, and sticking to the stuff I know.
SOMETIMES I promise myself I am going to learn a new language
ALWAYS it doesn't work out quite as planned.
SOMETIMES I don't like the Mr
ALWAYS I love him
SOMETIMES I make mistakes, huge ones.
ALWAYS I choose to learn from them
SOMETIMES I get really frustrated and angry by a TV series (recently desperate housewives)
ALWAYS I end up staying hooked anyway.

ALWAYS someone reminds me that I do and always will.

Eleven in 2011
Feels so weird to still be talking about 2011, but as I have spent sometime catching up with a few of your blogs, I have seen a lot of us have put into words the things that made us happy in 2011. Which is awesome because it's always good to remember why you smile.
I decided to do the same because even though I may have left a few things behind, there will always be memories I carry forward. And it is kind of a nice way to end one chapter and begin another.
Eleven Things That Made My 2011
1. Finding Unexpected Bonds With People and Forming Close Friendships.
This specific thing is hard for me sometimes, mainly because I don't always throw myself out there for people to get to know me. And even though, I love meeting new people and making friends, it rarely happens. So I am thankful to those who took the time to get to know me, who I now call friends. (",)
2. Freedom
Being away at University kind of gives you that freedom that we all seem to always want. But in 2011 I experienced a new kind of freedom, not one that I was forced into, but one that I chose. I was able to make my own decisions and do what I wanted when I wanted. I dealt with having to look for my own job, look for an apartment to stay, paying rent, etc and that is what being out of university did for me. Some lessons were hard but it was worth it.
3. Not Being Afraid
I am afraid of so many things. I had a friend in high school that called me 'chicken' and I still have people that tell me how much I worry about everything. And even though I still have these traits, last year I started to come out of it a little. Especially concerning where I see myself in the future. It's normal to be afraid of such things I suppose but when I decided I was going to plan my own birthday party and kick the s**t out of it, I really took one giant step for mankind. I kid you not. This seems pretty ridiculous doesn't it. 'Oh my gosh, she planned her birthday party, that was hard O_o' but event planning is my thing, and I haven't planned anything my entire life (except of course for in my head) but seeing my vision of something come to life really made me happy and I guess not afraid to do more of it.
4. Baking
Even though I haven't done a lot of it lately, baking definitely makes my list. I found something that I can spend hours doing in the kitchen and not get sick of it. The only downside are the calories I could gain from all the baking but, oh my, how can one refuse cake?
5. Aerobics Class
It didn't actually last long. A month, tops. But I have never felt so rejuvenated in my life before.Granted I could not walk for a couple of days, but it made me realize that I am definitely down for some bodily workout that is NOT the gym. So sign me up for dance class, synchronized swimming, anything.
6. Getting A New Pair of Heels For Christmas
I am totally obsessed with Heels! It's funny because the pair I got for Christmas are actually the first attempt at me making my shoe collection bigger. All I do is admire heels, I never buy them or get others to the buy them for me, I just always say how much I need them. But thank God for my sister who heard me and started me off. Hopefully by the end of this year I will have something to show for my obsession.
7. Family
Always.
This Christmas I introduced the Mr to my family. As nervous as we both were things worked out perfectly. We spent time with family I haven't seen in ages and needed to see and it was so awesome how things just came together. All those lunches and gatherings (that made me fat) were all worth it. But now they need to pay for my gym bill is all.
8. Applying and Getting Accepted for An Honors Degree
After my undergrad I really had no intention of furthering my education, at least for a while. As unambitious as that sounds I just felt like I was done with school at that time. I was eager to get out there and work, and 'start my life' but after much persuasion I applied anyway, and got in! Getting in was honestly the best feeling ever. And now I welcome the idea of more school so openly! In fact I am excited!
9. Twilight: Breaking Dawn
Did you see that!!!!
10. FaraiToday
This blog really gave me endless opportunities. The woman behind the blog is also so amazing! I am just happy I met them (her and her blog) who I now work for. (",)
Lastly and most importantly
11. Having God By My Side
Need I say more. ALL things have been possible for me because of it.

Happy New Year (and all that other stuff)
I feel so guilty that I haven't been on here since the 12th of December. It even confuses me because all I ever think about it 'my next post'... I could say that I was busy, forgot my password, had no internet connection, or something so not the truth but in all honesty, I seem to have let go.
Not of my passion for blogging, no, never.
But let go of finding the time and motivation to do it.
I blog all day in my mind, there is never a day that I am short of something to say in my little corner of the world wide web. And I am so grateful for those of you who have stuck around even when I had abandoned ship. I actually lost a couple of followers along the way (tear drop) but for me, this space is really about just being. I don't come on here to see how many more people have joined my site, even tough it is an added bonus, but I come on here to write, to talk, and to just be.
I love my space, and this year, there will be lot's of changes around here. Firstly, changes in the many times I make a post.
So let me officially start these changes by wishing everyone a Happy New Year.
I know it's already the 8th but we have a long way to go till the end of the year and I hope that everyone who has made resolutions and set new goals and targets reach all of them and more this year.
I personally have no new resolutions this year, I didn't even give them a thought. Mainly because I suck at keeping my resolutions, but also because this year I decided to just live.
A lot of changes had been made in my life throughout 2011, and all these changes made me realize that it is never too late to make changes, a lot of us wait for the right time, or the new year to make changes and even though it makes sense why you would want to leave something behind and start afresh in the new year, I've decided not to wait anymore.
I've decided that life is too short to wait for perfect moments, and even though I will still plan things out, and do things at the right time, as far as changes go, it's never too late to make them now.
But to each is own right?
Happy 2012 friends. Hope to see and meet more of you here on Lu3lus Crossing and over on your side of the World Wide Web.
