Violent Lips

Have you ever just wanted to do something simply because it is so not you? Something that will even suprise you if you did it? Lately, that's all I want to do. If it doesn't sound like me, I am doing it!
If my friend PJ is reading this, he is probably shaking his head right now because he is all 'Why you gotta do that? Just be you, you're awesome!'

Any way I have recenlty come across this thing that I am dying to try out. Violent Lips!

As stated on their website Violent Lips is:

'The ultimate form of self-expression, the Violent Lips Collection offers a statement-making line of Lip patterns that range from bold animal prints and fun polka dots, to sexy fishnets and picture-perfect Glitteratti sparkle.

I've only recently started wearing lipstick and let me add not too often either. The only colour I have ever dared to try is red, and that to me was skipping a couple of grades already. There really is nothing wrong with lipstick, or red lipstick to be precise but because I am so safe with everything I always end up feeling like I am way too over dressed or something. But.... with all that said, I love my red lipstick, I am so glad I tried it and it really is one of my prized possesions.
Now....
Violent Lips, My. My. My.
This is definitely next level stuff...  The 'Future of Lipstick' as stated by Allure Magazine.
Whatever the case, who wouldn't want to play around with this

Bedazzeled lips anyone?

I can be your sailor!

 Let's rep our countries shall we?

Animal print clothes, pssshh try animal print lips!

 What do you guys think? Yay? Nay?

Friday Fancies #6

{A little story}

This week I was inspired by Gossip Girls Blake Lively. Her role as Serena Van Der Woodsen sometimes rubs me the wrong way, she can't really decide what she wants and she blames the rest of the world for it.
Bleh. Sounds like so many people I know. Myself included.
But I must say, her wardrobe, to. die. for. Every time I see her in something amazing (which is nearly all the time) I take a mental picture and hope that one day I find something exactly like that in the shops.
Still no luck with that one.
But even though Serena has made quite a name for herself, it's Blake Lively that fascinates me the most. With her long list of credentials, we can now add to that fashion icon.
Her shoot in Glamour magazine had me jaw on the floor, I just loved it.

{The evidence}

{The copy cat}

I really loved this shoot, and this is what inspired my Friday Fancies outfit. If money were no object you would find me in this little number, traipsing the town with my girls while my sister visits this weekend.

Hey, It's Okay To.......

{currently reading ;-)}

I love Glamour Magazine, in fact I generally just love magazines, but Glamour is by far one of the best.
One of my favorite columns are the "Hey, it's okay to..." lists.
It's like the person writing them has some sort of inside look into my life and when I start feeling uncomfortable about something they stop and say "hey! It's okay..."

I find some of them pretty hilarious though, and I thought I would share some with you.
For those Glamour readers like me, you can just enjoy them again.

Hey, It's Okay.......

…to really enjoy crying at the movies. As in, sobbing {The notebook? how can you not!}
.…to shove it in the closet and consider your place cleaned {this person was definitely in my room}
....to secretly hope that your exes consider you the one that got away
....to really want to get married super-duper bad
.....to wish you came equipped with guy GPS. (Turn left at the next man to avoid heartbreak. Recalculating!)
…to be enamored with Kate & Wills and admit to loving the Royal Wedding {admits}
…to spend an hour doing your hair and makeup even if you aren’t going out anywhere
…to paint your own nails instead of paying for an over-priced manicure or pedicure {oh definitely}
…to be un-apologetically in love with someone {yes yes yes}
..... to use “you’re only young once” as an excuse to go out on a Wednesday.
.....to lay around and accomplish nothing on your day off.
...... to Put your hands in the air when Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’ comes on despite not being single.
.....to only buying magazines for the pretty pictures.
......t o ask every one of your friends for advice, then do exactly what you would’ve done pre-advice. {guilty}
..... to have to sing the alphabet a little bit in your head to know what order the letters go in

I thought I would try out my own:

Hey, It's Okay.......

....to make 'to do lists' you are probably not going to finish anyway
....to follow the latest fashion trend {which by the way you do not really like} just because you do not want to get left behind
....to pick an expensive restaurant because you want to feel particularly wined and dined.
....to get annoyed by your coupled up friends who are constantly throwing their love in your face
....to throw on sweats and a huge jumper to go to the grocery store {you don't need to dress up for everything}
...to pretend its your birthday at a restaurant just so you can get free dessert
....to want all the pictures to be taken off your camera because it is easier {for you} that way

What are some of the things that make you stop and think "hey, it's okay to...." do? Would love to hear what you guys come up with!

Hope you guys enjoyed... (",) and hey, it's okay!

Where have all the "ugly" women gone

I came across an article in Glamour magazine that I have not been able to stop thinking about, while I may have forgotten the exact title, I do remember that it went along the lines of "where have all the ugly women gone"...... Okay, maybe this is just me, but have you ever sat with a magazine in front of you, you are ready to read it and as you start all you see are just words in front of you, and in that moment that's all they are, words, because as you stare and flip through that magazine your mind is a million worlds away... well that was me then, but that changed when I came across that article. I was like wait what? Crazy talking Glamour magazine say what?

This article was written by a woman but from a mans perspective, basically he was saying that make up and plastic surgery and all things fashion have completely removed the idea of what woman should look like. As woman we all want to be perfect, we all want to be a size zero (which is not even a size), have a face like Halle Berry, a body like Ciara, teeth like Cameron Diaz, lips like Angelina Jolie and a butt like Jessica Alba. We try rid ourselves of imperfections forgetting that our insecurities and our imperfections make us us. We do the best to hide the scar on our hand, the pimple on our nose, the gap between our teeth, the stretch marks on our butt and we think that these things make us ugly, hence where have all the "ugly" women gone.

If you pick up any magazine from the shelves today you are bound to find gorgeous looking women on the cover who have one thing in common, they all look skinny and sexy. But do women really want to look like that? the answer is yes, and my question is why? there is nothing wrong in looking sexy but there is everything wrong in changing yourself to do that. We like buying the latest skin care products, hair products, fashion items, and make up and comparing ourselves to the model in magazines, but where is the reality in between all that glamour. Which is where the unknown guy in the article I read comes in, do women really know what guys want?

This "what do men/women want?" question has been asked decades ago, is still being asked now and will be asked for decades to come, there just isn't a clear cut answer. So many have tried and today I'm going to try... well as far as physical beauty goes. So buckle up, here goes:

Some may say there is a thin line between reality and fantasy but I say there is a huge difference. When I think about it, men may stare at a woman with triple D size cups, and they may fantasize about being with a super model, but that is as far as it goes. It is all just superficial and does not carry any substance. Personality, confidence, character, now that's substance. I think men want "real' women, and to me a "real" women has faults and imperfections.
There was some random poll that was taken about whether men like a superficial looking woman or a natural looking one, and out of the 1000 men that were asked, 6% of them said they would rather their women have botox than wrinkles, 69% of them said breast implants are not sexy and 50% of them said women should just ditch lipstick altogether.
Men like the wholesome, natural looking woman, not a woman that looks like she has just been unwrapped from a cardboard box written six to twelve years old with a price tag on it.

We should all (men and women) be able to show off our God given assets and not want to change them, after all no joys are comparable by being your own true self. Sexy is being able to just be yourself, we are already so beautiful, all it takes is loving oursleves wholly and completely and once we do that we will be loved by many.

"You're exceptional the way you are
don't need to change for no body
You're incredible, anyone can see that
When will you believe that?
You are nothing but exceptional" - Jojo
