There is hope in raindrops

"There is hope in raindrops. What does that even mean?
It means... that every drop of rain holds the promise of regrowth. Each has a purpose. Even if they don't know it. I think we can feel that way. That we don't have a purpose. But we do."

Hope you guys are having a fabulous weekend.

Friday Fancies #1

Happy Friday everyone!

I don't know, but am I alone in thinking that this week flew by so quickly?
Usually I welcome rushed days and speedy weeks (because that only means it's Friday again) but this is now sad news to me, because that means my visit with the boy is almost over.
Any way we are off to watch Arthur today, have any of you seen it?
I think Russel Brand is so hilarious, and I know he has been around for a long time, but I only recently fell in love with him with the movie Get Him To The Greek.
It's funny because I think he is a goof and an absolute weirdo in real life.
And I love it.

So any way it's Friday (duh) and in the blog world it's always Friday something, so I've decided that today I'm going to take part in Friday Fancies and since I declined my invitation to the Royal Wedding (by the way, how is that going?) and picked movie watching with the boy, here is the outfit I chose.

Friday Fancies

I don't usually dress up to go to the movies, so this would be a first for me, but I totally love this outfit, and can't wait to watch Arthur tonight.

Your Ideal 'Sucker'

We all know how the story goes, boy meets girl, blah blah blah, happily ever after.
This Disney kind of love has been drilled into me since Cinderella lost her shoe and fell in love, and Snow White ate an apple, almost died and fell in love.
I just want to throw in there that this can't be real right?
It's totally unfair how many times I've lost a shoe and never fallen in love because of it? Better yet, how many times have I eaten a rotten apple and achieved only an upset stomach, no prince charming, happily ever after or wedding bells! :/

I think that it's a good thing those stories ended there though, we all need a little fairy tale magic!
We wouldn't want to see what happens when suddenly the prince makes Snow White stop hanging with the seven dwarfs (the jealous dude) or when Cinderella in that huge palace of hers suddenly has to do the cooking, cleaning and the laundry because that prince of hers prefers 'his wife's touch' (the old fashioned dude) or when Beauty suddenly has to fight with her prince for the mirror because he is back to his old ways of me me me (the selfish dude)
That's definitely no prince charming.

I read this article (which inspired this post) talking about how we (as girls) always try to search for prince charming (who I might add not only exists in paper form, but behind the TV screen) and do whatever it takes to find him, even if it means turning down his brother prince I'm just a guy.
It got me thinking, and it's so true.
This idea of the perfect man has got us going crazy, making lists so unrealistic, going on and on about 'I want a guy that plays at least five instruments, takes me on vacations to the most exotic places, appreciates finer things, calls me at least 10 times a day and runs my bath water' and we make ourselves feel better by saying 'that isn't a lot to ask for right? I just want to be happy.'

We might as well just title that list unachievable.

List of unachievable things

No wonder guys always complain about girls trying to change them.
Well duh.
You are supposed to be prince charming.
Instead you are a slob, can too busy for me, a bit jealous at times, don't really know how to express you feelings, don't plan surprises for me, don't call as often enough, hang out with your friends way too much, and still manage to grab my attention.
Who the hell are you?
I could swear when I watched Cinderella I did not sign up for this.

But then again do us females know what we really want?

I know when I was younger, I had this list of what my ideal man should be: funny, handsome, caring, understanding, intelligent. It did not stop there though, as I grew up I kept changing and removing things, for instance instead of just funny anymore, it became have a good sense of humor, and then someone who's jokes I can understand, and now someone who can keep me laughing.
Sound the same?
Not really.
You see when I first wanted someone funny, I didn't realize that that meant that I needed to be able to find him funny, he can't just be funny, he needs to be funny to me. So I said good sense of humor. Again, my sense of humor is not like the next person's so while they think 'why did the chicken cross the road' is flipping hilarious I sure as hell don't.
So I changed it to jokes I can understand, but just because I understand why the chicken crossed the road did not make it any more entertaining so finally someone that can just make me laugh.
You see, I did not know what the hell I wanted. I just made a list and poor guy kept being booted off it.

So I guess the lesson is 1) Prince Charming does not exist and 2) girls don't know what they want even if he did exist.
We would probably try change prince charming.
So.....

Stick to your ideal 'sucker'
He may not call as often as you may want him too, or say the things you want to hear when you want to hear them, or know the difference between lilac and purple, or surprise you with shiny things but as long as he
loves you
respects you
protects you
takes care of you
makes you feel important
You are in business!

Who the hell needs prince charming when you got prince whats his face.

What are some of the qualities you guys look for in a partner?

'Dress Me I'm Your Mannequin'

“Beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. That, or a kick-ass red lipstick.” -Gwyneth Paltrow

I've never really got the hang of this make up thing. I hardly use it, for starters, and it just seems so complicated.
Don't get me wrong, I love it.
I think make up does whatever it does to the people who use it for a reason. Whether it is to boost your confidence, or make you daring, look gorgeous or dress up for Halloween, make up is like that star that led the three kings to Jesus Christ (your guide)
But as far as I'm concerned no matter how many times I try and put it on, I'm never fully satisfied.

In fact I told my friend once that I decided make up is not for me, and even though I still bother to give it a try once in a while I just don't look as great as when other people do it.
She told me, rubbish! You just need to find the right colors and put it on right. Make up is for everyone!
She makes it sound (and look I might add) so easy.
Well, try confusing.
Liquid foundation or powder? Liquid eyeliner or pencil? Thick mascara or not? See my dilemma? Oh and not to mention what actually works with your face, color? Tone? Amount?
Ay dios mio!! *sigh*

I've been told to never give up, so I'm still on my quest to find the perfect make up for my skin, in the meantime I guess I will just have fun trying it all out.

You know who's make up I love though?
The Kardashian sisters.
I think they look completely stunning, it's almost not even fair or allowed! Agree?

In their book Kardashian Konfidential they mention how they like to wear their make up in a section called 'Live! From hair and make up'

Kim:
'When I'm making up myself, I put a primer first. I think it's really important. Smashbox makes a good primer. For eyeliner I like MAC liquid eyeliner in black. It's really really black and it just glides on. I like to use a liquid lifting concealer under my eyes either from Christian Dior or Make Up For Ever. And I always have translucent powder with me for touch ups. You can get a good translucent powder from the Laura Mercier line Shisheido or Bobby Brown. For nails I love love love all of Sally Hansen's products. I also like shampoos by Finesse and Herbal Essence, and Suave mousse.'

4. Translucent powder

Khloe:
'I always do my own mascara, even when I am getting hair and makeup. I only use Lancome, either Hypnose or Drama. And I use Chanel waterproof eyeliner pencil or MAC or Stila because they are so black. When I'm doing my own makeup I like to use Chanel foundation because it is really easy to apply. I use two body lotions (and now Lamar does too) one is La Mer and the other is one I now get from homebody.com. Somethings I just have to have at all times in my bathroom. They are beauty staples, for instance Vaseline is an amazing product. About once a week I slather it onto my feet and put socks on. I wear them for about an hour and ta-da! My feet are as soft as a baby's bottom.'

Koutney:

'Recently I am so over wearing tons of makeup and tight dresses and big hair. I like to throw my hair in a pony tail and be done. Especially now that I have Mason."

- I guess she does a good job at just looking gorgeous either way with or sans Mason.

I just love how these girls look.
Grateful for their style tips too, not that I could even pull them off.

Any of you guys with any makeup style secrets?
Let me know, I would love to know what everyone else is doing/using?

Who do I talk to about that?

Any way, I hope the rest of you a) had a terrific Sunday, b) had a terrific Easter Sunday and c) ate lots and lots of candy.
I am going to make sure I get my dose tomorrow.

For those of you who also like me had a craving but did not get to indulge, join me?

I do! Do you?

My recent obsession: Weddings

I've been watching this reality TV show 'Bridal Plasty' on the Style Network, and it's got me hooked!
It's basically about weddings (bridal) and surgeries (plasty- plastic surgery). The two usually don't do anything for me.
1) I never obsess about weddings and when people do I think really? I have never thought about how my dress should look like, or where my wedding should be, or how many guests I will have or where my honeymoon is going to be or anything really. I've just gone as far as saying I want a June wedding and I blame Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway for that.
2) I have a friend that's always asking me if I would do surgery and if yes, where and what? I just tell her hell no, nowhere and nothing!
I have nothing against it or the people who do it but it just looks a) scary and b) expensive and c) a lot of work just to go through to change something about yourself that probably really wasn't that bad to begin with.
I just can't imagine changing anything about myself. This is not to say I think I am perfect beyond words, but I like the fact that my boobs are not to perky and my stomach has a little bulge.
Would I like to lose weight, yes. Would I cut myself to do it, no.

But this show has changed my perspective of at least one thing.
Weddings.
In this show these ladies have to go through a series of challenges, from finding the perfect dress, to lessons on how to act on your honeymoon, to finding the perfect wedding cake and flower bouquet to creating the perfect invitations, everything.
It's got me way too excited about picking put my wedding dress, that I started googling some prospective choices. Here is what I came across:

What I love: the feathery fluff at the bottom

What I love: the lace detail
and the band around her waist

HERE

What I love: the back
the color
Italicand the tail

What I love: The back and the tail

What I love: the detail

What I love: the lace and waist band. (I must say I don't think I could do that much lace but she looks gorgeous in this dress)

What I love: the detail and the bow

What I love: the length and it kind of has this vintage feel to it
HERE

I love love love these dresses. Anyone with me?

I did not forget the Royal Wedding. All this wedding talk kind of makes me want to watch it. I had no intentions to do so, mainly because William broke my heart, but now that I think about it, should be interesting to see.

Who is with me?

Have a happy holiday every bunny

Why did the Easter egg hide? -
He was a little chicken!

I always find this holiday one of the most colorful, I don't know if its because of the spirit of which it's received, or the eggs, but it's definitely such a happy holiday.

Some people can't wait for the egg hunt, or Easter parade:

Some can't wait to kick their feet up and take a break off work or school (I know I am one of them):

Some can't wait to throw water all over each other like they do in Hungary (This is a tradition I want to take part in):

Some can't wait to spend time with family friends, eating, talking, laughing.

Some can't wait to give praise and worship.

What will you guys be doing this Easter?

Whatever it is that you guys may be up to this holiday, have tonnes of fun and as my mum always says, don't lose sight of what it's really about.

Happy Easter friends.
Eat. Pray. Love.

If youre lucky and you know it clap your hands

"No I'm not lucky I'm blessed......
YES!"

I don't really believe in horoscopes or lucky stars or fortunes and wishing wells or even the secret but I do find them harmlessly entertaining.
I mean we all want to believe in something right?
So sometimes (for the hell of it) when things go wrong, I may wish upon a star, or look for an answer from my horoscope, or throw a coin in a pond or something. Well, on Monday I ordered Chinese. This can't be complete without a fortune cookie right?
Make that two (desperate times call for desperate measures)

This is what they had for me:

Isn't it weird that both are about luck? :/

Now, I don't really believe in luck, I used to, but now I just believe that things happen for a reason, even though sometimes you may not know what the reason is.
I welcome luck though, oh hell yeah, Lord knows there have been a time a two that I needed it. So when I saw these fortunes I was thinking 'yes yes yes!!! but what could this possibly mean?'

It's funny because today I have heard the word 'luck' about five times.

1st time someone said I was lucky
2nd time someone said my boyfriend was lucky,
3rd time Jim Carrey said on TV that he was lucky
4th time people were talking about how lucky some people are to have stable marriages in this day and age,
5th time Billy Ray Cyrus expressed how lucky he thinks Miley Cyrus is.

What's with this word luck all of a sudden?

I don't really know if 'I am the chosen one' :/ or if 'luck is with me' but if I had to look at my life now and do a check list, I would definitely be counting more blessings than I would anything else. So hey maybe I am lucky, lucky to have a supportive family, amazing friends, countless opportunities, and life.

How do you feel about luck? Yay or nay?

Happy Monday

It's Monday again, and surprisingly I was more excited for today than I was this past weekend. Who would have thought right? It wasn't the best weekend but it wasn't the worst, so I guess that's all the complaining that I'm going to do.

I did have a great Friday though, my friend and I went to do some retail therapy and we came across these amazing shoes that I thought I would share with you.
I never pictured myself as such a shoe fan before but lately I'm going gaga for shoes. When I think about my future house, I see a closet solely for shoes shoes shoes.
I don't know how my husband will feel about this, but we will just add a game room for good measure just so he is happy with himself.
I can't have anything come between me and my shoes.

I have no feelings for the colour Grey, I also am quite over leopard print anythings but I changed my mind when I saw these.

I fell in love.
Immediately.
Gorgeous aren't they?

Now my friend is the proud owner these beauties and I'm just a bit jealous.
All in all great Friday, unexplainable Saturday and Sunday, and Happy Monday.

Hope the rest of you had a great weekend and a great start to the new week!
