Friday Fancies #9

Boy aren't we glad it's Friday!
I've had quite a great week, so no complaints.
We good over here. (",)

Here is a little summary....

1. I had Monday and Tuesday off work.
2. It was women's day on Tuesday. {Happy Women's Day to all you fabulous women. Even if you didn't get to celebrate it}
3. I got to lay in and have fun doing nothing all day.
4. I caught up with a good friend over cocktails. Much needed.
5. Developed a new attitude towards thinking about work. Pretend you are doing the job you want/love to do. It works.

The last time I blogged was this past Sunday, I guess I got carried away doing...... you know..... that. But any way, I was not going to miss Friday Fancies this time, so I am back to join {av} and the gang.
This week the theme is the color red

If I am being honest, I am not really a huge fan of the color red... on clothes... for me.
On nail polish yes, lipstick, yes and shoes oh yes.
But clothes, hmmm.
I've never quite gotten round to giving it a try. I must admit though, the color is sassy, classy and powerful.
It's an amazing color and I had fun with it this week.

I'm hoping the outfit speaks for itself. When I was creating it, I was torn between doing a work suit, or sticking to what I would normally wear. I guess what I would normally wear won, because I definitely see myself in an outfit like this. I love the length of the dress, the straps are not too strappy {if you know what I mean} and I find it great that its backless without being over the top.
I put a black hat because I think that when you remove the shoes, and all that glamor of the gown, you have a perfect outfit for just laying at the pool if you like, or taking a trip to the vineyards if you please. Or even dropping by a friends house for a cocktail or two in the backyard.
What say you?

Take a look at the outfits that inspired me to want to create a suit.
Maybe next time huh?

If money was no object, what would you create with the color red? If you want to find out and join in the fun, link up every Friday with {av} on Long Distance Loving
You won't regret it.

Any plans this Friday?

Friday Fancies #8

Happy Friday Friends!

I for one am very excited  today, because it's date night with the Mister in a couple of hours, and it feels like it's been forever since we went out.
I'm also very excited because this is my first Friday Fancies in a LONG time. I don't know what has kept me away but boy am I glad to am back with {av} and the gang.
This weeks topic is one of my favorite. Maxi Dresses.

I was never really a huge fan of dresses when I was a lot younger. I was more a jeans and t-shirt kinda gal, and I still am. But, nothing says feminine more than a maxi dress does, which is one of the reasons I love them. You can still look and feel comfortable, and look dolled up without the hassle of having to do too much.
The mister is also a huge fan.
I think I make his day when he sees me wearing one.
Some of my friends tell me they don't really know what to do with a maxi dress. They feel like there is only one way to wear them.
I had/have a similar problem myself, which is why I was excited to play around with different looks for my Friday Fancies this week. As I was 'shopping' around for something I can create, I came across this site that showed '100 ways to wear and accessorize a maxi dress'
I thought, Oh my word, no way. 100? Where have I been all this time.
See for yourself

{images from style amor.com}

I also hear people complaining that they can never wear maxi dresses at night, because it doesn't go.
I say false.
And this is how I created my Friday Fancies outfits today, one for day and one for night!

Maxi dress Day Time

Maxi dress night

Don't forget to link up with {av} if you also want to have fun creating outfits! its a good way to start your Friday, I can promise you that. if money weren't an object what would you have?

If you like my outfit(s) please like them over here:

What are your weekend plans? Do Enjoy!

Growing Up

This weekend was by far one of my best weekends this year.
Imagine that.
6 months in, and only now do I have a great weekend.
My life.
The point is, I got to spend the weekend with my loved ones, and experience my not so little sister growing into an old lady.
I love saying that, 'old lady'...
She has this thing where she likes to think everyone but her is old, but now that she is 21 she can bloody well join the club.
And.... because I can, I'm going to rub it in her face.

Even though 21 is still young, I feel that {and I have a few people that agree with me} after 21 its all down hill from there. Agree/disagree?

Any way, I loved this weekend for all sorts of reasons and one of them being that I learned a few things about growing up....

1. The minute you reach your twenties, people already picture you at thirty.

2. Growing Old up does not mean you stop having fun. It just means you redefine what 'fun' is.

3. Big girls do cry

4. Knowing right from wrong is more important now than it ever was.

4. Not only teenagers have drama, that's a b**tch you can never run away from, even when you are 50. All you can do is choose whether to let it affect you.

5. The minute you reach twenty something people start talking marriage and kids O_o

6. You never stop learning

How did the rest of you spend your weekend?

Gift Givers?

Happy Monday!
Hope you guys had a lovely Sunday.

The weather was good out here yesterday, so I took the opportunity to pop over to the mall for a little shopping.

It's my sisters birthday, excuse me, I mean 21st birthday {because those are different} this coming Friday and I have NO idea what to get her as a gift!
It's funny because, I love getting gifts and things for people. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I like getting things, or I like making people happy in any little way I can.
And I guess for me that translates to gift giving.
But its crazy because you would think by now I would have gotten used to this gift giving thing, and I would know off top what to get someone.
But, No.
This is my second trip to the mall, and I am still no further than I was the first time I went.
HELP!

The birthday is this Friday, and I would really really love to make this girls day! Any Ideas?

What would you guys like to give/get for a 21st birthday? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! :)

Have a happy Week!

Sunday Truths #1

Happy Sunday!
Hope everyone had an amazing weekend.
I know I did, it was the most relaxing I have felt in awhile just being around family that I haven't seen in ages.
Anyway, I'm jumping on a new bandwagon that I have been seeing around lately called Sunday Truths. I absolutely love the messages behind them, and I thought that maybe I can also spread some Sunday cheer.

Hope you enjoy.

Friday Fancies #2

It's Friday, Friday, gonna get down on Friday.
I can't believe I just quoted that song, but nevertheless, it is Friday, and even though there will be no "getting down" I'm still uber excited.
I've got a lot of work to do this weekend, so I'm probably only going to get a taste of the outside world through my bedroom window, which is no fun. :(
But to make myself feel better I am going to pretend that I am part of the Jersey Shore cast and picture myself on the beach somewhere, getting my fair share of vitamin D, sipping on a Shirley Temple and watching cute surfers pass by.

And this is the outfit I am going to do it in:

Fridat Fancies #2

A girl can dream right?

This is exactly why I love {av} and Friday Fancies because I get the chance to exit the world I am in, into another and look cute doing it.
Cross on over to {av} and {Long Distance Loving} to check out more Friday Fancies.

Happy Weekend all. Do enjoy!

What will you be getting up to? boring ol' weekend like mine? or crazy night out on the town? I'd love to know what some of you have planned.

There is hope in raindrops

"There is hope in raindrops. What does that even mean?
It means... that every drop of rain holds the promise of regrowth. Each has a purpose. Even if they don't know it. I think we can feel that way. That we don't have a purpose. But we do."

Hope you guys are having a fabulous weekend.

Happy Monday

It's Monday again, and surprisingly I was more excited for today than I was this past weekend. Who would have thought right? It wasn't the best weekend but it wasn't the worst, so I guess that's all the complaining that I'm going to do.

I did have a great Friday though, my friend and I went to do some retail therapy and we came across these amazing shoes that I thought I would share with you.
I never pictured myself as such a shoe fan before but lately I'm going gaga for shoes. When I think about my future house, I see a closet solely for shoes shoes shoes.
I don't know how my husband will feel about this, but we will just add a game room for good measure just so he is happy with himself.
I can't have anything come between me and my shoes.

I have no feelings for the colour Grey, I also am quite over leopard print anythings but I changed my mind when I saw these.

I fell in love.
Immediately.
Gorgeous aren't they?

Now my friend is the proud owner these beauties and I'm just a bit jealous.
All in all great Friday, unexplainable Saturday and Sunday, and Happy Monday.

Hope the rest of you had a great weekend and a great start to the new week!

Daily Inspiration: Quote

Since It's the start of a new week I thought this might be appropriate.

I don't know if it is just me, but I have a tendency of always staying in weekend mode a bit longer than I should. I just feel so blah when Monday comes along, that I keep hitting the snooze button on life one too many times. So this week I think I will do things a little differently, even though I still hate Mondays and wish ill on them, I have decided to just open my mind, and experience all there is to experience, good bad, happy sad, wrong right....... all of it.

Join me?

Enjoy the week all. (",)

Full Assed Weekend

I kinda borrowed, stole, (po-tay-to, po-ta-toe) this title from one of the blogs I follow, Simple Dude In A Complex World, every weekend he writes, half assed to say the least. No, this does not mean half drunk, so don't go follow him now because you think you will get to see stories about how he drunk dialed his mum thinking it was his ex baby mama who he decided to tell on that specific day, at that specific time that he does not want to be a daddy anymore only to hear his mothers voice at the other end of the line saying "sonny, you have a child?"

fun? Leave it in the suggestion box.

No, this means that every weekend he puts half the effort into blogging (oh so he thinks) because at the end of the day we get half the comments and half the hits on weekends anyway.

I guess my weekend lasts seven days. Score!

However, and now I finally get to the point of this post, I had a full assed weekend. I really felt like my dreams were coming true.
Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to be a princess, and then a singer, and then a dancer, and then back to being a singer, and then a lawyer, and then a writer, and then a writer/journalist and now an event planner. Guess which one came true?

The princess? I wish! Charles won't take any of my calls. And if you were to see me booty shaking while dropping a tune, you would want to kill yourself, I can't win an argument to save my life, everyone is right except for me. Shows how much I know. Definitely not the writer/slash journalist either, I mean look at what a swell job I am doing here. So that leaves tum tum duh dum!

YES! I finally got to plan ,help plan, assist in helping to plan, stand around and watch people party, but who is taking notes right?

This is a pic from the event I worked for, if it wasn't for my battery playing hide and seek with me I might have had more *sigh*

I got a taste of something I really wanted to do and it felt good. And although what I had to do wasn't huge, you know like plan Prince Charles wedding to her, *moment of silence*

*moment done* it was a message that I can do it, if I really want to. And I really want to, so I am going to do it.

In the words of Charlie Sheen, "Nike said Just Do It, they did not say Try Do It."

So to all those who want to do something but are afraid they are not good enough, or afraid that it will not work out any way so why bother, well............ I'm not going to feed you that whole you can do anything if you put your mind to it stuff, firstly because I just did, but mainly because if something means a lot to you nothing will stand in the way of that, or at least nothing should. Not even fear. Even if it is just asking your crush out to coffee, or sending that business proposal through to the bank, or writing to companies you would love to work for, just do it.

Its worth it.
