'Beyoncé will be in your life like she’s never been before'

Beyoncé Knowles is the name on almost everybody's lips lately. With her epic super bowl performance not so long ago, her announcement of The Mrs. Carter Show, her interview with the queen of television Oprah Winfrey, and her much anticipated documentary on HBO 'life's but a dream', it is no surprise. This woman has it all and then some. If there was anybody I could be for a day, at this very moment I would pick Mrs. Carter.

I haven't laid my eyes on either her interview with Oprah or her HBO documentary yet, but it is the March 2013 “Power Issue” of Vogue that has left me stunned right now. I have to admit with some reluctance that I am such a prier, an A grade celebrity stalker, I want to know the very intimate details about a celebrities life, only because they seem so far away that knowing what makes them human, just like the rest of us, makes the difference. And in this issue, Beyoncé did that for me, even though there was still more to be revealed through 'Life Is But a Dream' I felt an honest picture of Beyoncé Knowles carved through that article. Especially the love she has for her family. That Beyoncé and Jay-Z kind of love, that Beyoncé and Blue Ivy kind of love. Yes please. Reading things like this make me excited to have a family of my own, be a mother, be a wife, and just feel a different kind of wholeness and happiness.

Regardless of all that, she had a banging photo shoot too. The yummy mummy donned some uber sexy outfits, with looks by Alexander McQueen,  Haider Ackermann and Oscar de la Renta.

Beyoncé is the IT girl of the moment and this moment will last forever.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day!

It's already the end of the day and here is hoping you reading this are smiling from the inside out. Hope lots of love, kisses, chocolates, flowers and happiness came your way, if not, it's never to late to spoil yourself with a bottle of wine, a huge slab of chocolate and tub of ice cream to drown thy sorrows. An intake of yummy calories is sure to solve that problem.

As for me, I'm a cheesy girl, I love love and it only makes sense that this is one of my favourite days of the year. 'Love' for me in this case is just that love, love for family, friends and significant others. I'm not going to lie though, by the time this day comes around we are like friends, family what? where is that man? So yes, having that significant other makes a difference on this day for most people, especially with Hallmark throwing their 'to my perfect girlfriend' cards in our faces. YES I want one, and NO I don't want it signed your best friend Lola!

Before I sound like I was lonely this valentines, let me get to the real reason behind this post. I've been listening to a lot of love songs lately, you know, getting into the spirit of everything, and being as sappy about love as I am, of course I made a valentines day playlist. This list is in no means saying these are my favourite love songs, just ones that currently fit my mood as a love struck 20 something year old on valentines day.

It Is Important with Whom You Regularly Associate

I might just be the only one who hasn't proclaimed {at least out loud} that 2013 is their year. I'm just not too sure about putting so much pressure on a year with the off chance that it might all fall to s**t. I'm happy to welcome 2013 as my year, when it becomes my year, but till then I am happy just working at making it so.

BUT

My 2013 will be one of immense growth, and this I am pretty happy to state out loud. I've spent the past couple of years doing the same things, particularly surrounding myself with the the kind of people that are just not good for any kind of mental, emotional or spiritual growth, because either 1) they are so self involved that they don't even realise that this world hosts other human beings, 2) they have no idea what the word progression means 3) they use, abuse and misuse people for their own benefit, or 4) they have more faces than the Lord intended, basically, small people.

I mean it is no secret that we are not getting any younger, and it makes no sense to just grow in age and not have anything mentally to back that up. A lot of us are now at the age we are trying to grow ourselves, become career women, family women and maybe this is the needy child in me speaking but it is at this time you need to surround yourself with people that make a difference. We need people that are going to support us, rejoice in our achievements, encourage us when we have low spirits and be rocks when all we see around us is shaky ground. This is what we need, but we are also at that age where we should not be afraid to walk alone and we should not be afraid to like it. It's been a reality to many and a reality I am starting to notice for myself, which is why I love this particular quote by Mark Twain that states

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you too, can become great. When you are seeking to bring big plans into fruition it is important with whom you regularly associate. Hang out with friends who are like minded and who are also designing purpose filled lives. Similarly be that kind of friend to your friends."

This is my 2013 in a nutshell. I am going to grow in this, because there I believe at this point in my life there is nothing truer. I am thankful for the friends who are all this and more to me. Here is to a great 2013!

Hi There You Fabulous Month You

Hi There You Fabulous Month You,

I'm excited that February is finally here. I've really been feeling like I have been in a daze the whole of January, so many to do lists that haven't been checked off, blogs that haven't been posted, feelings that haven't been expressed, and it's just not good. So February needs to be good to me.

Also, maybe it's just me, but January seemed to never want to leave us. I'm in no rush for anything really, It's just that February, after December has got to be one of my favourite months. People just seem happier, cheerful and lovely. It might have something to do with Valentines Day, I am sure, love in the air and all that, a little nauseating but it's a good month to be in.

Besides all that, a lot is going to be happening for me this month, mainly the fact that this month I start the beginning of the end of my last year as a STUDENT, \o/ granted I will forever be a student of life, but student of the educational system, no more. So I just really can't wait to see what this last year has in store for me, and the sooner I get started the better.

5 days in and counting.

May February be good to you too!

Celeb Style: Michelle Obama

The 1st lady of the United States celebrated her birthday yesterday.... 49 and looking 30 something. What a gorgeous somebody.
In all the times I have seen her gracing the covers of magazines, our TV screens etc, she always looks dashing and needless to say quite classy.

I've always found her fashion sense really inspiring, simple yet extremely fashionable, definitely something a 30 something 49 year old should be wearing. Even I would house myself in one of those gorgeous overflowing gowns she loves to wear.

Here is a happy belated birthday to the 1st lady of elegance.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHELLE OBAMA!!!!!

2013 :)

Happy New Year every bow deeeee!

I myself am pretty excited about 2013... Not only because I plan on achieving so much, mentally, physically, emotionally and most importantly spiritually this year, but the beginning of the year is always a favorite for me, It's like starting a new book or a new chapter in a book, written by me for me. I can't imagine anything more fun than that.

So, here is to wishing all of you a successful and prosperous 2013, may the book/chapter in the book you are writing for yourself be something you feel proud of, lots of learning, living and loving.

HAPPY 2013!!

Denim on Denim

I'm going to use the word 'new' here loosely, because this really is new to me, but I really am loving this new denim on denim trend. Over the past few weeks I've spotted a lot of denim on denim fashion on my television, in magazines, on the streets and on runways, and I'm taken. At first, much like the print on print trend, this trend wasn't something I would naturally just think of pairing together for the fear of being over-matched. I mean, I thought that was something we were all meant to stay away from, DON'T MATCH they said, so I became one of those people wrinkling their noses and making funny faces every time I saw this denim on denim trend. How wrong was I though, there is something so effortless about this trend that makes it okay to match. The reality is {Justin and Britney} it is in fact a rather stylish trend if you pull it off correctly.

Please don't mind me while I add a few more denim items to my shopping list.

What do you guys think of the Denim on Denim trend. To wear or not to wear that is the question?

#WHOSTHATGIRL?....

... No this time it is not Jess.

TopShop South Africa, which I had the pleasure of visiting the other day, {pretty shop, even prettier things to buy} I've just learnt is having a competition. They have partnered with one A-List Hollywood celebrity in their TopShop Christmas Film set to premiere on the 4th of December, and they have done a good job at keeping who this A-List celebrity is quiet, leaving us the crowd guessing #WHOSTHATGIRL? As part of their #WHOSTHATGIRL campaign TopShop SA has asked fans to guess who the celebrity is. So far they have released two teaser videos off their original TopShop Christmas Film,

Teaser 1

Teaser 2

And fans are meant to visit the Topshop South Africa Facebook Page, click on the #WHOSTHATGIRL tab on the homepage, fill in the entry form, and the name of the celebrity you think is featured in the video and then just cross your fingers and hope to die that the prize is yours. The prize? R5 000 TopShop shopping spree. I'm pretty sure I am going to attempt to enter, I mean, R5 000 to play around in TopShop is all the Christmas present I ever need. However my guessing game abilities are a little rusty.. So let me quickly go play a game or two of memory and I will be good to go.

The final video will go live on the 4th of December at 12PM, which is when the winner will be announced.

In the meantime good luck to all those who enter.

The Newest Kid on the Block Ash Muzik

Ashley Beyers, popularly known as, Ash, or A.S.H. recently dropped on my radar. This Durban born professional dancer has been in and around the music scene for a while, participating and appearing in many dance shows and competitions, also taking the stage with South African award winning hip hop and R&B groups Jozi, HHP, and Jamali, and taking part in the hit television series 'So You Think You Can Dance South Africa' in 2010.
Yeah, okay..... so maybe he isn't the newest kid on the block, and I am just about two years too late to the party, but whats new to many of us is this super talented moves maker is broadening his career to include singing. Yup, not only is he taking the stage but he is taking the microphone too.

Rumour has it A.S.H. has been singing underground for awhile now, only sharing his talent with a select few. I recently heard his latest single 'No 1 Does it Better' off his EP 'Ash Has Landed' that he plans to release in January of 2013, and let me just say [for lack of a better phrase] Ash sure has landed. I love the sound of 'No 1 Does it Better' kind of has an old school yet modern vibe to it. His sound actually reminds me of the Dream, you know, Terius Nash the voice behind Falsetto and Rockin' That Thang, yeah, that kind of electronic pop R&B sound. So basically those of you who love the Dream and his music are in for a treat with A.S.H, granted I haven't heard any other song from him yet, but if this new single is anything to go by then yes.

Take a listen to No1 Does it Better here and judge for yourself

All he needs to do now to make him a triple threat is act. Generations anyone?

For more on A.S.H, follow him on Twitter @Ash_Muzik, or  @_TeamAsh and @SwaggedIncPR for any PR related queries.

ELLE Style Reporter

Last night I attended probably the best event this entire year, {yes, I don't get out that much} either way, I am glad the glam gods forced me out because one thing is for certain ELLE Magazine South Africa and Blackberry know how to throw a party.

For the past couple of months ELLE  in association with BlackBerry® have been searching for a style reporter to join their team, no details necessary, who wouldn't read just that and not jump at such an opportunity? Obviously no one. Style reporter says it all. Any way the judges ELLE editor, Jackie Burger, photographer Ed Suter, ELLE Online editor Jenna McArthur, South & Southern Africa marketing director for BlackBerry® Ulanova Visser and Corporate Communications Manager for Sub-Sahara Africa at Research In Motion (RIM) Christa Botha chose 7 lucky bitches finalists to battle it out over a series of three challenges.

The final challenge was to take place at this 'blog party'. Obviously I had to attend, if not to snatch the award out of the winners hand and claim it as my own, then to see all their hard work and dedication pay off. I had hoped for the former, but oh well.

The venue was perfect I must say, the whole aim of the style reporting was to capture South African street style, and this venue was perfect in highlighting just that, it was not a fancy hotel, nor was it a fancy club but literally a museum space in the middle of town. How much more street can you get. Of course I showed up in a mini dress and high heels though, but hey. Free food and drinks were served to us all night, 5FM's Poppy Ntshongwana was the host of the night, music was on another level, my favourite DJ in the whole of the land, DJ Zinhle was on decks. She rocked my socks off I tell you, but the highlight for me at that event was the people of course. From the people who greeted you at the door, to the people who served you at the bar, to the people in the industry you got the chance to rub shoulders with, {my favourite meet and greet was with Live Amp presenter Luthando, BEAUTIFUL SOUL}.

Poppy

The ever so talented and prettyful @DJZinhle and I

The gorgeous and uber friendly @LootLove and I

Let me tell you though, not one single person was out of style, everyone with their flashing cameras and video cams deserved to have their picture taken. That was one whole fashion show on the side, two points for ELLE, blog party and fashion show in one? Score.

As the whole point was to announce the winner of ELLE’s style reporter, let me get to that. I was incredibly happy with who they chose to be their style reporter. If it wasn’t for this competition I would have never come across any of his work, but Trevor Struuman, check him out, here and here, is one helluva fashionista. I was rooting for him from day one, and when they called him out as the winner it was like I won too, and everyone else {who attended the event for the actual style reporter winner announcement and not for free grub and goodie bags} must have felt the same way I did, cause once ‘and the winner is Trevor Struuman…’ was announced the crowd went wild. It was expected, like I said, go here and here and let him tell you himself why he deserved to win.

After the announcement
It was honestly a fabulous night, well planned, well executed, and a true life changing experience for Trevor who now gets to sit with the big boys and report on what I personally love to see and read the most, South African street style. Who knew mid-week partying can be this fun. Congrats Trevor, and kudos to ELLE and BlackBerry® for an event well thrown. *stalks tweets for the next one*
